Beverley Dunne: Will talk to voters on “You Make The Call” on Aug. 27th

The intention was to conduct a forum between the two Democratic candidates for Peabody’s State Rep in the 12th Essex District. But it looks like just one will accept the invitation to speak to Peabody residents on the “You Make The Call” cable access show on Wednesday, Aug. 27th.

School Committee member Beverley Griffin Dunne has accepted the invitation to talk to Peabody residents, while Ward 3 Councilor Jim Moutsoulas declined because of what he called conflicting engagements.

Although we’ll still welcome Moutsoulas on the show, should he change his mind, right now it looks like the entire hour (8-9 p.m., on PAT Ch. 99) will be spent talking exclusively with Dunne, who is making her second run at the 12th District seat, currently held by Republican Leah Cole.

We also plan to post a video of the Aug. 27th show here on The Eye, and on Facebook.

Dunne and Moutsoulas will square off in the Sept. 9th Democratic primary, with the prize being a match up with Cole in November. We also plan to invite the finalists for the seat on a future show following the primary.

Please continue passing the word about this opportunity to see and hear from at least one candidate for Peabody State Rep. We’ll be taking your calls that night. We’ve also been asking for questions here in the comments section.

I am not surprised that her opponent declined the chance to appear on the show. Personally for me, if I were in shoes I would not appear either. The main reason being that his opponent has lawn signs all over the co-host’s lawn, and all of his neighbor’s lawns. Kind of an awkward situation don’t you think? Hopefully Jimmy will use the time knocking on doors actually meeting people while the 6-8 people that watch the show hit snooze. JMHO

Demo knocking on doors? That would be a first. This guy has knocked on less than 6-8 doors in all the years he has been a political leach.

He was in my neighborhood “knocking” just last week. Made a great impression!
Have not seen the ghost named Beverley. Much like last time, she believes the “gender/ Democrat factor” will let her sail into a cushy state job.

Is Demo really going to be knocking on doors between 8 and 9 in the dark? Geez. hope he doesn’t scare some poor old lady into a heart attack. Face it. Not smart for him to not appear. A lot of people watch that show.

Just one point of contention there, Mrs.S. No matter which candidates we support, Dick and I always treat every one of our guests on YMTC with courtesy and respect.

Dick was a huge supporter of Beverley last time she ran, and we had Leah Cole on. If you spoke to Leah, I think she would agree that we made her feel welcome, and never attempted to “ambush her.”

Last fall, we had Joel Saslaw on Open Mic night before the election, and he too was treated with fairness, even though we were running against each other.

While certainly we give our opinions on things on a regular basis, we’ve never brow beaten nor hit our guests up with “gotcha questions.”

I take Jim at his word that he had a conflict. But as I stated in the original post, he’s still welcome to come on should his plans change.
