Get out and vote for Beverley Griffin Dunne. She is the ONLY candidate who will put people first. She is a very worthy successor to Joyce Spilliotis!
I agree. Gravel is not a people person and all Cole wants to do is cut cut cut. The elderly would be hurt by her attitude.
BEVERLEY WILL WIN TODAY!!!!!!!!
Wow. Feeling some panic from Gravel. Just got another call from his campagin. Second one in 24 hours. When I told them they had just called they said well we are just making sure because Dave really needs your vote. Kept them on phone last night for at least 20 minutes. Just voted for Beverley, though.
Beverley Griffin Dunne is not worthy to succeed Joyce Spiliotis. As hard as she is trying to ride on Joyce Spiliotis’s coat tails – she will not be elected.
Voted at St. Ann’s today for Beverley. Voted an noon and was voter #168 in Ward 1 Precinct 1.
Just voted for Leah. She is the real people person.
Time for the working taxpayer to say good-by to the high spending Democrats.
Democrats never saw a tax they didn’t like to spend: Income tax, Sales tax, Excise tax, gas tax, cigarette tax, meals tax and the list goes on and on and on.
Time to say: No, No, No.
The other two spendalohlics are worried.
Hopefully their meal ticket ride is over!
Who won?
Cole Wins. http://www.redmassgroup.com/diary/16714/republican-cole-wins-peabody-special-state-rep-election
Leah Cole wins!
Leah Cole WON!!!!
OG says…did Leah Cole REALLY win ???? remarkable….simply remarkable…
Hahahahaha told ya. Now what do you political experts have to say? The libertarian republican train is not stopping, guys.
YEAH real funny. Gravel steals votes from Dunne and this kid slips in. This is a collossal disaster for Peabody which will get nothing since this Cole has NO CHANCE of being an effective on Beacon Hill. No chance. NONE. Cole wins Peabody is the big looser tonight. Nice going. Congrats to all.
Just like she had no chance of winning right?
So, was it this excellent news journal that said Leah Cole will not win the election? That the primary was a fluke?
Excellent foresight, Dick Morris. Well done.
By the way, I know you folks thought all of Leah’s support was from out of town, but it looks like 1,878 residents of Peabody identify themselves as supporters of Leah Cole. More than can be said about her two opponents (who are great servants to the city of Peabody).
Mr. Croce, you should seriously reexamine your approach to journalism. You’re the Dick Morris of Peabody right now. Be embarrassed. I hope you’re shaking over the thought of covering these election results.
What the hell are you going to write? “Uh.. Oops.. It’s Marlborough’s fault. It’s Blackstone’s fault. It’s Ron Paul’s fault.”
Or…
“Voter fraud!!!!!!”
That would be a great headline.
Hope you sleep well, dude.
From out of town and supported Leah says it all. She is too. She is from Lynn. She is also inarticulate and will be completely ineffective. We lost Fred Berry, so now Peabody has no representation in the legislature for the next 2 years. This is horrible for Peabody and it will cost us millions of dollars while she holds this seat.
Dave Gravel owes our community an apology. He should have run head to head against Beverley in the primary. He should pull our his checkbook for the city and get ready to campaign for Beverley in 2014.
Dave Gravel owes the community NOTHING in the form of an apology. Face it – voters saw through Griffin-Dunne. And using Joyce’s signs all over town with Dunne’s on top was a HUGE turnoff. It was viewed as a desperate, despicable attempt of a loser candidate having to ride on Joyce’s coat tails because she isn’t smart enough to run on her own nor did she have the personality or knowledge to win. Since when should someone not run because it might ruin some one else’s chances? Leah Cole got more votes from Peabody residents then Dunne. What does that tell you!???
This is a disater for Peabody. Cole only won because two Dems split the vote. If Gravel does not run, Dunne destroys this Cole person. This is a disater for Peabody. We will get nothing now and our mayor knows it. This Cole kid is totally unqualified and unfit to serve.
Whose to say Gravel votes wouldn’t have gone to Leah Cole??? Wake up and smell the coffee. Peabody people are SICK of the abuse and all you little Dunne followers should have seen that she had nothing to offer. Cole even did pretty well at Brooksby Village – Give her the credit she deserves. she worked hard and she won!
If Gravel is not in this race Dunne wins very very easily over Leah Cole. 90% of the Democrats who voted for Dave would have gone for Beverley if he did not run. There is no way they were going to vote for an extreme right wing zealot who will also kill Peabody on Beacon Hill because she does not know what she is doing. She is 24 and not even a smart 24 yr old. She claims to be a nurse but we all know that she is not a real nurse. She took some adult ed class to be like a nursing assistant or whatever. This hurts Peabody and disgraces the memory of our great state rep Joyce. I am teling the truth here. Gravel split the vote or Bev would have won by at least 1000 votes.
Good luck Leah getting any of the city councilors or the mayor to work with you. Good luck getting anyone on Beacon Hill to work with you. Enjoy your time there. It all ends in Nov. 2014 and it ends very badly
Just like this time when you were all saying she would never win? She has no experience, yadda yadda yadda… look at your crappy president’s prior experience.
OG says….Dunne and Gravel must be waking up today wondering what the hell happened…the Leah Cole victory is quite remarkable but what is surely as remarkable is the lousy voter turnout once again here in Bright City…….this lack of voter involvement continues to disturb me and and it clearly shows that a few of us who frequent blogs like this, follow local political affairs and pay attention to what is going on around here are truly in the minority here in Bright City…other than the senior voters up at Ward Brooksby who have the time and special interests to pay attention to the issues the rest of our citizens are just not into it…and that’s how OG sees it.
7% of the districts registered voters voted for Leah. What is even more shocking is that neither of the two lifelong residents with many many years of public service couldn’t inspire as much as 8%.
OG says….you got that right Mr Mustard…and why couldn’t those asleep at the wheel voters be inspired by two such well known candidates??? if I were Dunne and Gravel there is no denying that they have to be disappointed that their years of service could not produce any loyalty and support on election day….wouldn’t this kind make you question ‘why am I doing this?’ now I know that Dunne is already telling us that she will be back in 2014 and Gravel is walking around shrugging his shoulders mumbling ‘it is what it is’ but this result has to hurt….
